Sticky: Jan. 7th, 2014 04:50 pmActivity Check-in
Jul. 17th, 2015 06:45 pmHow it Works
Activity Check-in is a post that goes up during the first week of every month, and remains active until the last day of the month it was posted. After that, it's checked over, and anyone who has not posted to the post will be contacted by a mod.
The only ones exempt from posting at check in are those who started hiatus before the post went up, and are not scheduled to return from hiatus until the following month.
You post activity using the form in here:
What is Acceptable Activity?
Activity will consist of one (1) current post, or one (1) comment from your character!
Please note that all comments/posts used for activity must have your character listed in the community character tags of the post to be valid. This is only not required if they originate on the OOC com or a character's private journal. The real life month on the submitted comments and posts must also always match the month of the Activity Check-in Post they're being submitted in to be considered current.
Posts
Posts must be on either the Missive or Main community.
Posts can be logs, voice, missives, (or a combined post of these) so long as they are for the current activity month.
Posts may be logs moved over during the current month from another platform so long as they have the appropriate header and follow the body format of "Character journal: the comment" in alternating fashion. Please put any such logs under a cut.
Posts may be shared between two character so long as the content is approximately half and half.
Posts may be written out interactions between two characters (if both players agree), or mission reports posted on the current month as well.
Comments
So long as they are for the current month, all comments posted on
sunshineverse and
sunshine_messages will be accepted, as will any from
sunshine_ooc that are on activity memes and test drives.
Comments on IC contact posts will also be accepted.
Going Above and Beyond
The act of doing threads (which will be denoted in sets of ten comments) can get you rewards! If you have any of those to give us, go over here and let us know!

Activity Perks
Jul. 17th, 2015 04:36 pmHow it Works
Perks are a system in which we try to reward players for going above and beyond in the act of tagging one another. For every thread that is submitted here, players will have access to a new tier of rewards. Please keep in mind, once you spend them, your total goes back down to zero, so if you have your eye on a ten comment prize, you'll have to save up!
All threads submitted here must be at least ten (10) comments in length (from you), and be turned in starting at the comments that apply to the month you're turning them in on. Please keep in mind that each character is a separate thread count, so three threads for one character, and two on another are just three and two, not five for the player. However! You can submit as many threads as you want each month that apply, and save them from month to month. We just ask that you keep them all together, so if you saved threads from the month previous for a character, please put your new submission in reply to those threads.
What you put in your comment!
Players may also submit perks they would like to have added to this post, and they will find their way into the correct tier of this list.
What Qualifies for this

Character Downgrading.
Apr. 9th, 2015 10:58 pmDowngrading is a process where, after having had a character through a complete AC cycle (and this is a cycle where you had a normal AC, not the month you apped the character in) you may contact the mods and request the character be moved to half AC from that point forward.
You may not have more than one character under this at a time. You must have made the AC for the requisite proceeding month in full before making the request.
The reason for this choice is to give players the option to pick up characters who might be unsuited for normal play. Antagonists, for instance, if you intend to play the character for a few months behind the scenes, then kill them off dramatically. Another reason is for politicians, such as a character who is great for monthly cameos, but has no real staying power for day to day interactions. Yet another reason for this is as a supporting character, in other words, you apped in a close relative or teammate for someone else, and that's the only real reason the character is there, as they have no reason to be interacting with anyone else in game without significant effort that might be impossible for months at a time. Other characters, after having been played for a time, might just reveal themselves to not have enough to do to maintain normal AC standards despite efforts.
On AC, these characters would only have to have half AC from the point of being downgraded forward, and should be indicated as such on their AC post.
Please keep in mind that this feature is meant to give the players more options, and to in general make play more fun, not to induce stress of any kind. If you wish to reverse the process simply contact a mod and let them know they're going back to normal play status.
To request a downgrade, simply send an email to sunshinemods@gmail.com using this form:

Donate to the Info Pages Today!
Mar. 28th, 2015 09:32 pmFor the Clans and Bloodlines page, we encourage you to provide information on the bloodlines and clans that your character belongs to. These include both canon clans/bloodlines (canon information and Sunshine accepted headcanon welcome!) and character created ones (for Original Characters and modified imports).
Providing information does the following:
- helps fill out the pages
- keeps them consistent with what players are using in Sunshine gameplay/interactions, not just what is written into canon
- allows for reference for incoming characters/players who might need this information for their applications/character creation and development
- provides supplemental information for people unfamiliar with the canon of Naruto, specifically as it is applied in Sunshine
If you are interested in helping, please comment below with the name of the clan or bloodline you're providing information on and the information that you can. You can use bullets, prose, whatever works best for you. We'll modify it to fit into the clan information page.
Thank you!
To help, we've created a list of starter questions. You do not have to provide answers to any or all of these, nor are you limited to just what is listed.
( Possible (but not all) topics for discussion/addition )

Player Ideas
Nov. 3rd, 2013 03:44 pmThis is a game where all ideas are welcome, even if maybe not all ideas work for the setting. If you have something you'd like to see, put a comment in this post. This could range from event ideas, to plots that you would like mod help with, and even to weather suggestions.
We will look at everything and make sure to let you know that you've been heard when we do. If you have a concern, you may also put that here, but we suggest that you PM the mods instead so that we will get back to you more quickly.

If you for any reason need to take a hiatus, please fill out this form and put it in the comments:
If your hiatus is going to run for longer than a month, you must speak to a mod! Only hiatuses of two weeks or longer will qualify for AC exemption.
If you are on Hiatus during activity check, we will accept your AC comments and post for the previous month (should you have qualified) after your return. Said activity will be held to normal AC rules, simply accepted at a later date.
We will accept your AC being turned in by another player while you are on hiatus, but only if you noted it in your hiatus comment here.
Please note that repeated months of AC exemption will be looked into by the mods.

Rules Post
Nov. 3rd, 2013 03:39 pmBe Courteous!
We don't want to see people being mean to one another! True, not everyone will get along at all times, but keeping open lines of communication is an absolute must. We're building a world guys, so a few differences of vision are bound to crop up sooner or later.
Skype chat courtesy is required! If you're in the chat, always indicate what a link is for when you link something! It is impossible to stress how big of a deal this is. Your character is your character, and they are the only character you control.
Examples: A fight scene.
Your character attacks. You must leave an opportunity for the other character's player to decide if it can be avoided or countered. The only exception to this is if you have discussed it with the player beforehand and have agreed not to do it this way, or if you're using the rolling system, which also implies previous agreement.
Information: You find out something OOC your character does not know.
Does your character have access to this information?
Is it IC for them to go looking for this information?
Have you played out your character being told?
Have you discussed how your character would know with another player?
If the answer to these is no, then you cannot use this information in any kind of IC way. Please take care not to do this.
IC is not OOC and vice-versa
What your character does to another character does NOT reflect the feelings and thoughts of their player. Likewise, we ask players to please try and keep their out of character conflicts out of their in character interactions.
IC actions lead to IC consequences
Just as IC is not OOC and the reverse, IC actions do lead to IC consequences. If your character does something wrong, they can get in trouble. If your character does something right, they can get a reward. If your character really messes up, they can start a war. So remember, what you do with your character can have long term effects.
Be Consistent
Due to the nature of the game, we're aware that the definition of what is IC for characters might be bent slightly. However, what you app into this game is what we expect to see. If you app in someone even tempered we will be asking questions if he is not played that way. Likewise, if you can't explain why a character would have changed in demeanor when asked, we will expect you to bring them back in line with something closer to their canon self.
Player Ages
To avoid any complications we're going to ask that every player be no younger than fifteen years of age at the time of putting in their application.

Applications have their own FAQ, which also has the application itself.
Once I'm in, what about getting started?
That's the easy part. You just jump in, putting up a post on the community or tagging into someone else's. Don't worry, we're a friendly lot and would be happy to hear from you. Your options for posting are action, voice, or missives. All will be explained in this FAQ. Remember, your character was here even if you weren't, so it's okay to assume your character knows people.

What is the day ratio?
This is a 1:1 game. One real-life day = one game day.
Logs and In-person interactions
Where do I post in-person interactions?
Logs of in-person interactions go in the
sunshineverse main community. Tag it with the names of the characters involved, the location of the log, and whether it is [open] to other players, or [closed] only to those tagged. Above the cut text, include:
Do logs have to be prose?
No, they do not! However, keep in mind that people are welcome to use brackets or prose in their comment replies. If you have a preference, letting people know is the best approach. Also, please be warned that the game is almost entirely prose on the main community, even if letters often have bracket actions.
Out-Of-Village Interactions: Missions, Travel Seals, and Visiting Friends
Interacting with other villages?
There are multiple options here. Using the scroll network is one. Visiting and interacting with the shinobi of another village in person is also a viable option. Likewise, you can run into other shinobi on missions.

Things to be aware of!
How do you get to other villages?
Inter-village travel was the other major point of the treaty that is currently in place between the nations. The second seal, the first being the scrolls, that was established after the signing was for transport. The secret of it is known to only a few very select people, all of them seal masters who planted this seal themselves at designated points near, but outside, the major hidden villages and along borders of the various countries. (All locations are marked on the world map.)
One needs to only organize paperwork for the village that they are from, and to speak to the shinobi on seal duty to be sent to any other seal on this network. These people have an armband in purple with the symbol for travel on them. The seal itself is a simple flat circle filled in with stone on the ground. Only two people can go at once, activated by these shinobi, and the seal requires a cool down of an hour between outgoing uses. Incoming requires no cool down.
Only the shinobi manning the seals (always NPCs) know the secret to activating it, and even they don't know how to make new ones. Thus, have your paperwork in order or you're not going anywhere. At least, not the fast way.
You can always travel on foot, which can take several days, or weeks, depending what villages you're moving between. However, if you manage to tick off the seal NPCs (or happen to be a civilian/missing-nin) this is the way to go.
Travel speeds go as such: Shinobi can run up to 40 MPH/64 KPH, when in excellent condition, genin are slower, not taking into account things such as tree hopping which can bring them almost to 45 MPH/72 KPH.
Civilian speeds tend to not be faster than 3 MPH/5 KPH at a walk, 20 MPH/32 KPH at a sprint, though this is not sustainable. If they are taking a wagon, they can get up to speeds of 10-12 MPH/16-19 KPH and hold it for a duration.
But my character is a canon version, how does that affect me?
Due to your character being canon to their native universe, they'll be unaware of how things work. In instances where they're not from the Naruto universe (nor do they have a native counterpart around to color views about them), then your character will often be treated like a civilian, though getting paperwork will be a bit of a trial. Once they have paperwork, be it civilian or shinobi, travel becomes easy and they can use seal points like any other shinobi might.
Of course, you'd have to sign on with a village for that, but it's not impossible, and Ame and Oto especially both hand out such paperwork if people give allegiance.
Any travel constraints or bonuses, that your character might have will obviously carry over from their canon as well.
For those of you with a local counterpart, I advise checking on their missing-nin status, because it might put your character in better (or sometimes worse) stead with the locals.
How will mission assignments work?
See also: Mission FAQ
Running into other characters on missions only requires talking it out among relevant parties, though players are more than welcome to play things out among themselves using NPCs. If you need a mod for any huge missions for player plot, just drop us a line and we'll help how we can!
What happens if I don't follow mission objectives?
That will depend on your village of origin. Not every village leader will respond the same way, and depending on what happened because of it, you can have anything from congratulations to being accused of treason and taken for interrogation. So take care, and mention it to a mod if you went drastically off a mission, plot-related or otherwise.
Of course, this means you can make up having done so if you just want a player plot too, but be careful, it could backfire.
Missives, Letters and Voice Posts
Where do I post messages my character sends to others?
Whether you're using a summons to deliver a personal note or a scroll, text/missive or voice posts go to
sunshine_messages the messages community. Tag it with the names of the characters involved, the location of the log, and whether it is [open] to other players, or [closed] only to those tagged.
What is up with the scrolls?
The scrolls were something that were decided on during a treaty session between the five Kage nations, and a seal setup was created explicitly for this purpose. Missing-nin have access either through having had one at defection, being able to create their own, stealing a scroll from another party, or having bought it from someone that had gotten the specifications for creating it. Any of these are a viable reason, and it is assumed that all shinobi in the game have one. If a civilian has the right connections, it's not impossible they would too.
How do the scrolls work?
See Also: The full details on scroll usage and security.
Scrolls are very simple. For those without chakra access, such as Rock Lee, you use a drop of blood to activate it, and then either write on it, or speak into it, which will leave a symbol that others can access. People can then reply to this symbol in like fashion after getting the missive. For those with chakra access, the same method can be applied, only by feeding it chakra instead of blood.
No indicator as to who the poster is is present on the scroll, and the only signal of identity will be the symbol appearing in the same place as previous messages from that person. Alternately, the sender having put their name on the missive somewhere is entirely possible. Obviously concealing one's voice makes it much more difficult to identify a sender, and this can be used freely.
A scroll will absorb the things written on it, and will only run out of room if you do not read and release the seals for other entries that have been sent to you.
How do voice posts work?
Voice posts work in two ways. Because we have both civilians and shinobi in this game, there are two different systems for voice posts you can use.
System one is the phone system. For civilians this is typically the only sort of voice post that they can make, but it is always private between the caller and receiver. Shinobi can receive calls and send them, but only on land lines since cell phones do not work.
System two is the scroll system. This is a shinobi only network, however, and this requires additional seal training to actually lock the post to only one other player, and thus has its pitfalls. It can be assumed that every shinobi in the game has a scroll, no matter village status. It cannot be assumed that any shinobi has training on how to lock a scroll beyond keeping it in-village. This requires in character work to accomplish.
How does posting security work?
For security in the scroll network, a seal must be written directly onto the scroll at the time the missive or voice recording is created. These seals can be everything from chakra signature based high security, to something as arbitrary as 'no girls allowed'. There is no limit on the kind of security seal that can be used... there's only if your character has the knowledge to actually secure anything. Sealing arts are more common since the treaty and the resurrection of Uzushio, and teachers are available, but it might be better to assume you need someone to do the security sealing for you if you've never learned how.
Better you not blow yourself up, right?
Any seals that would secure the scrolls can also be used on bird or courier nin carried missives.
How do missives work?
Missives are a less immediate form of what the scroll network can provide, but tend to be more secure. You can deliver them to anyone, shinobi or civilian, and though interception is a risk, it will also give you a tangible paper that can be kept for later information or re-reading IC.
Every village has specific birds that can be given notes for this purpose.
Conversely, you can contact a carrier nin and they will deliver the letter for you wherever you might be sending it on their rounds.
One note on missives, if it is sent in village, it will be delivered quickly. However, if it is leaving the village, it will take at least one day by bird, or several via nin.
My character arrived from their home canon, what can I use?
You can use all of the above communication options, as people arriving from their home canons will wake with a scroll next to them. Their village symbol will be defaulted to a seven point star which will be on one end of the otherwise blank scroll, though how long this takes for the characters to figure out the function of depends on the character in question.
About The World
This is an alternative universe roleplay game based on the world of Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto.
The game starts with the characters at the ages they would be when Naruto Shippuden ends, discounting the last chapter timeskip. However, the world is different. Uchiha Obito was saved by the Yondaime Hokage and lives on as Hokage of Konoha after his mentor's retirement. Because of this, the Kyuubi was never released on Konoha and the Uchiha never rebelled. There is a solid, cooperative truce between the Five Great Nations, one which has been in place for years.
However, war recently started. In Suna, the Yondaime Kazekage was recently killed. In Kiri, because the bloodline massacres never came to pass, Yagura's death was far more shocking, and was followed with the Water Daimyo's death. As well as all this, hidden away in Otogakure, Orochimaru thrives in full health, having never had his arms nor powers sealed by Hiruzen.

Alternate Universe: Uzushio, Oto, Akatsuki, and Uchiha
What's this about Uzushio?
Uzushio, better known by it's country of Whirlpool, is rebuilt. This was started by Kushina after contact with Nagato brought it to her attention that she perhaps wasn't the only Uzumaki left. Since then, many who had fled the destruction of this village have started to emerge, as well as those descendants they left behind, and slowly the village has begun to flourish. It is still a work in progress, but progress is, in fact, being made.
If Uzushio exists, does Oto?
Oto, better known as Sound, does still exist. Orochimaru still defected, and still desired to rule somewhere as a Kage, thus built this village in the land of Rice. Former missing-nin that are affiliated with this village may claim it as their native home.
Hey wait, Nagato? What about Akatsuki then?
In canon, Akatsuki took a hard left when Nagato was vulnerable and grieving due to Obito's influence. Without that, the Akatsuki took a much less aggressive approach and after several years actually returned to its roots of peace. They still employ missing-nin, but it's far more mercenary without the theme of 'destroy all the villages' being involved. This also makes it a bigger organization overall, as the statue is not a factor, and thus ring numbers do not matter.
On the same vein, if you are employed in the Akatsuki, just like in Oto you may claim Ame as your home village. Please note that you would still be considered a missing-nin by your home village and would likely miss out on benefits of non-missing-nin because of this. If you swear away your free movement as a missing-nin, Ame is willing to make you a citizen, and you can be promoted to the ANBU-like branch of Akatsuki instead of the mercenary one.
One more thing. They're not hunting the bijuu, so if something happened to your Jinchuuriki, it wasn't them. At least, it wasn't them as any part of grand scheme.
What about the Uchiha Clan?
Yes, the Uchiha clan is still around. With Minato as an active Hokage, and without Kyuubi hanging over their heads, things went far, far better for the clan. Now, with Obito having become the first Uchiha Hokage, the clan has eased from their previous discontent, though admittedly not entirely, and has never been walled into their own sector of the village.
The Fourth's friendly overtures and recognition of the clan's contributions to the third shinobi war effort, and village security, finally did some work to thaw the relations between the Uchiha and the village which had been kept chilly by previous friction between clan and Hokage. The current Hokage, albeit a far from typical Uchiha himself, being from the clan has helped accord some status via association as well.
These days, the clan is viewed with somewhat less fear, making it easier for them to function within the village as they were intended. They still serve as the military police, handling both "domestic" crimes and village security against outside threat. They are police for Konoha's shinobi and civilians, as well as fire and other disaster relief forces.
Characters

What do I do about characters not being played by players?
NPCs (non-player characters) are going to be a big deal here. Unnamed NPCs can be played by anyone. They can be used as enemies in missions, clients that need to be appeased, OC teammates, students, and family, and all kinds of things! Named NPCs are a little trickier, because you need to make sure that you don't make them act in a way that any players apping them in someday might not be able to work with.
But if you happen to play Ino and need to mention something Shikamaru is up to, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, especially if there isn't one in the game and he's supposed to be with her then. Please try not to go too wild with this though okay? Even if you do drag them along on missions with you. There is a player accessible NPC journal
sunshinenpcs that can be used for both named, and unnamed, NPCs whenever people need one.

Can my character die?
Yep. A character that dies in game cannot be played again by the player that killed them, though it is possible to work out a way for a future player to play them, and the 'death' to be reworked in a way that allows it not to have been real, or for them to be resurrected via another sort of plot point.
Characters who are their canon selves cannot be resurrected, they'd just be apped totally fresh by a new player if killed.
If you just want your character to be out of commission for a while, you can speak to the mods to work out a way that they will be heavily hospitalized and recover instead, but this will take the character off play for two weeks. This can be, if pre-arranged, used as a cover for Hiatus.
Then what about if my character just gets hurt?
You can still post from the hospital in the case of severe injuries, which are life-threatening but not deadly, but obviously your character isn't moving for a while. More minor injuries, such as broken arms and legs, will just put your character down for a day or two while they're being tended.
The only exception to these being minor is if there is a plot where someone cannot be healed with chakra. That, however, will be something that would planned out between you and a mod, and thus is not something to worry about being sprung on you as a surprise.
What if I want to maim my character?
You'll want to talk to the mods, but this is a method of retiring your character from shinobi to civilian life. It's not impossible to reverse, but any maiming would put your character out of shinobi circles for at least a month. Alternately, maiming in ways that doesn't cripple your character can open up other interesting options, but is still permanent.
Jutsu: What they are, How they work
How do Jutsu work?
The comprehensive explanation of the different types of jutsu and usage can be found here. Please note the examples below are not all-inclusive, and those listed in this post are just a quick overview.
Taijutsu: Anything that is straight up hand to hand combat.
Weapon versions under the Taijutsu umbrella are: Kenjutsu, Swords. Tessenjutsu, fans. Shurikenjutsu, Kunai and shuriken, basically thrown weapons. Puppeteering, Puppets are used, however this is also a ninjutsu.
Genjutsu: Things that affect the mind, and can be lethal if applied properly. Illusions.
-Primal: Anything emotion based. Killer intent, soothing someone with your presence, quelling school children with your anger. All of that is under this umbrella.
-Area: Anything that is an area of effect that is outside a person. Setting a genjutsu trap on a place, making it seem like something is where it isn't, making people fall asleep indiscriminately within an area.
-Personal: Anything that is entirely focused inside a person. Basically any genjutsu that would make a person freeze in the real world would apply to this category, even if they believed they were continuing to go.
Ninjutsu: Anything that involves chakra that affects the physical realm by changing it in some way. Walking up trees or on water is in this category. As is Kawarimi and all the elemental jutsu. There are non-basic elemental jutsu as well, but they are less common.
-Basic five: Wind, cutting and not visible. Fire, burning and harder to control. Water, summoning water. Electric, harder to control and prone to going against the user without enough practice. Earth, anything involving going underground, and anything that involves using the ground itself.
Technology
See also: Missives, Letters and Voice Posts
Why is tech broken?
Chakra interferes with fine mechanical objects. Anything with low complexity can survive for a little while when being in contact with a shinobi that uses any kind of jutsu around it. However, these items, such as short distance radios, are the only things durable enough. Thus, shinobi don't bother with cell phones, as they will simply die unless someone went to a lot of effort to implant seals into it.
This is why landlines and things like television can still survive into shinobi lifestyles. Refrigerators and things like computers do exist, but the latter is very unlikely to be found in any kind of shinobi village as they're easily fried and a mislaid practice jutsu could quickly ruin one. Civilians usually have a much higher level of tech, and have been shown to use the native equivalent of skype.
Ame is the most technologically friendly village.
What about guns?
Guns seem to be a rather jinxed proposition. Those that are made in extremely limited secret quantities as one would family jutsu (and with family jutsu, no gunpowder) tend to get in under the radar, but any others? Good luck getting anything with gunpowder to actually do what they're supposed to. Only guns built with seals ever seem to actually work in any way, and those are understandably rare. The reason for this has never been clear.

Things to be aware of!
-Travel is rather free between countries! If you have your paperwork in order, you can easily go from country to country, and it's only if something happens that would have a village leader keep you (either in or out) that this can be revoked. Alternately, free travel will become increasingly watched as war events happen.
-There is an area designated for foreigners to stay at with only a check in near a primary seal in all the five major shinobi nations, proximity to the village varies by village friendliness, with Iwa's being the furthest away, and Konoha's the closest. Smaller countries do not have this, but Ame and Uzushio both welcome visitors and are often likely to be willing to put them up without fuss.
-All seals are marked by golden explosions on the world map and can be used as per details in a question below. The Seals themselves are merely filled circles of stone laid flat on the ground. Long travel takes a few weeks, seal travel moments, so please take this into account when moving from place to place. The people at the seal points will have a Purple armband with a mark for 'travel' on them, regardless of country.

Whether you're using a summons to deliver a personal note or a scroll, text/missive or voice posts go to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)

Technology

Sunshine, as a universe, isn't quite what people normally think of with the word 'sunshine'. The word normally brings to mind fluffy kittens and warm summer days. While many things appear to be much brighter, happier, and dare say it, better in places when compared to the dark, abyssal background of canon... that isn't entirely true.
Where there is sunshine, there are shadows, and let it not be forgotten that sunshine burns.
Drastic changes from Naruto canon seem to be good in theory: in Konoha, Uchiha Obito was saved by the Yondaime Hokage and lives on as Hokage of Konoha after his mentor's retirement. Because of this, the Kyuubi was never released on Konoha and the Uchiha never rebelled. They instead thrive within the village, avid protectors of their home who are much more integrated than canon left them. They are not bound inside clan walls, and it's done them a service.
Uzushio was rebuilt in the years of peace, and even Rain seemed willing to open their borders. After all, Obito, in his drive to improve Konoha, and to prove himself to his family, garnered the most expansive peace the Elemental nations had known, banding the five major nations together and making travel and communication far easier with his negotiations.
Unfortunately, the solution wasn't permanent, and the Kage Nations, while mighty, are not the entire world by any stretch of the imagination. War has recently started because of this, and in Suna, Rasa, the Yondaime Kazekage was recently killed. In Kiri, Yagura, while not the bloodthirsty beast that caused the bloodline massacres, is recently dead, to say nothing of Water's Daimyo. Lightning, the last country that felt the full brunt of the opening charge, has lost their Daimyo as well.
Through all this, Orochimaru watches from the sidelines, waiting to see just how things might fall apart, and he's hardly the only one.

For your character, this could mean a game of politics, battles, secretive missions, and deadly alliances, all leading to the cautious shaping of Sunshine's future. Please keep in mind that just because something is happening doesn't mean you'll be forced to play it, but the option is there for those who enjoy the deeper side of games.
Ninja characters will be in prime position to affect the pull of politics and war, while civilian characters are more likely to be successful at avoiding these intricacies if they so choose. Then again, civilians are the cause of many a mission, are they not? Wars have begun over less, and insults are sometimes far too easy to pay. Politics are confined to no one, if you so wish to involve yourself in them. The newly started war is part of the overarching mod plot, which the players are kept generally apprised of, but the player-characters will, through their choices and actions, determine the intensity of this plotted course.
Our Activity method means that people will have more than their share of chances to affect the course of the game, after all.
Sunshine is a game that accepts all characters. For anyone canon, be they a fandom or an OC, well, those characters just have to sort themselves into the disorienting situation that is finding yourself dropped in the middle of an unfamiliar (or if from Naruto canon, possibly painfully familiar) village with no clue as to what is going on.
For anyone going Native, and we'll take anyone for this, OCs, different canons, minor characters, even Naruto characters, they will undergo a back-story overhaul, as decided by their player, to fit the Alternate Timeline of this setting. So if you ever wanted to see what your character would be like if they were a ninja, a shopkeeper, or perhaps a nobleman in a Daimyo's house... well, here's your chance.
